LGBTQ+ Adoption & Fostering Week 2024

'Different Together'

LGBTQ+ Adoption & Fostering Week returns from 4 March, 2024. The campaign is unique in the UK in speaking solely to the LGBTQ+ community. It brings together adoption and fostering agencies that want to talk to LGBTQ + potential applicants, with people in our community interested in either parenting or caring route. The 2024 campaign will focus on encouraging more LGBTQ+ people - particularly those from the global majority - to consider adopting or fostering children from minoritised ethnic groups.

Events taking place

To support the campaign a range of events will also take place. Registration's now open for the first, an online 'Introduction to Adoption & Fostering for LGBTQ+ People'. Taking place 6 March, the session will showcase stories from LGBTQ+ adoptive parents and foster carers from the global majority. Existing Bronze members can log-in and register for the event now or non-members can join as a free Bronze member now and then register.

'Preparing for transracial adoption and fostering' will take place online on 4 March. Aimed at LGBTQ+ people already in the assessment process - or who are family-finding - it offers practical support in promoting the heritage and culture of you adopted/fostered child. Gold and Silver members can login now to register for the event.

'Supporting LGBTQ+ transracial adoption/fostering applicants' takes place online on 7 March at midday. It's open to all interested sector staff. Orange members can find out more and sign up to the event by logging-in. Non-members can complete this form to apply to attend.
