LGBTQ+ Adoption & Fostering WeekNew Family Social's flagship campaign to encourage more LGBTQ+ adopters and foster carers |
Our 2023 campaign asked LGBTQ+ people in the UK to consider whether they could adopt or foster #123OrMore childrenIn 2022 there were 82,170 looked after children in England, an all-time high. There’s an ongoing need for more people to provide foster care across the UK and for more people to consider adoption. Despite a record proportion of same-sex couples adopting in England, with 1 in 6 adoptions in England to same-sex couples in 2022, LGBTQ+ people still report high expectations of discrimination from foster and adoption agencies. To counter this, LGBTQ+ Adoption & Fostering Week is a unique opportunity for agencies across the UK to come together and encourage more LGBTQ+ people to consider both pathways to parenting.
The campaign takes place every year. Independent of government and led by LGBTQ+ people who've either adopted or fostered, it's seen record numbers of LGBTQ+ people successfully follow adoption and fostering as the route to growing their family. |
